Data Science for Smart and Green Engineering Systems

IEEE IMC-SSGP 2026 is pleased to host an Official Data Science Training delivered by Orange Digital Center (ODC) as part of the conference program. This training is designed to provide participants with both foundational and advanced knowledge in Data Science, enabling them to extract meaningful insights from large datasets and apply machine learning techniques to real-world engineering challenges in smart systems, energy, and green processes.
Format: One session per day, integrated into the conference program.
Target audience: PhD students, early-career researchers, MSc students, and engineers.
Training Program Overview:
Data Science Foundations & Unsupervised Learning
Introduction to Data Science concepts; Role of Data Mining, Machine Learning, and Big Data; Hierarchical clustering; K-means clustering; Cluster validation methods.
Supervised Learning & Model Evaluation
Association rules (mlxtend); Decision trees and performance evaluation (Confusion matrix, Accuracy, Precision, Recall, F1-score); Regression models (R², RMSE); Random Forest (Scikit-learn);
Practical workshop: supervised learning implementation and model comparison
Neural Networks & Introduction to Deep Learning
Artificial Neural Networks (ANN); Model evaluation and optimization; Introduction to Deep Learning; Keras & TensorFlow implementation; Deep learning architectures: DFFNN, CNN, RNN;
Case study: classification task
Practical workshop: deep learning model implementation and hyperparameter tuning
These trainings are delivered by qualified ODC trainers, with full technical support provided by IEEE Tunisia Section and Orange Digital Center. Certificates of participation may be awarded to attendees.
